Hey the description of your hair matches mine perfectly! I just recently got my hair bleached, so I think it can help.
I have medium-brown hair, but there was some black dye left in my ends. (I did it literally 3 years ago—black has staying power.) The stylist immediatley recognized that I had dye on my ends and warned me that it may take longer than usual to lift it to my desired color.
She used 40 volume developer diluted with a lot of shampoo, and let it lift for two hours. Then, she toned it for 10 minutes. What was black is now caramel brown.
I suspect it would take 2.5 or 3 hours to get to honey blonde with 40 vol. developer, but it could take longer with a weaker developer (like 30 or 20–from my understanding, 30 is most commonly used). You should probably expect 3+ hours in a salon. It will also take more than one visit, most likely two or three, to reduce the amount of damage done to your hair.
It can be done, but it will take a little bit of time and money! :)
