IUD question?

I’m scheduled to get the hormonal IUD tomorrow but I’ve been warned that I might feel shitty for awhile after, I have a big test on Friday morning, should I reschedule my insertion? I know its dependant of the person for how it will go over all but is it a bad idea to get it in the day before an important test? I’m just worried about being ill during my test

I bled a lot after mine, but dont' recall prolonged pain. Ibuprofen should help with any cramping. But if you're worried, you can reschedule. (Though be aware that they like to do it during your period. So if your period will be over, they may want to wait until next month.

I felt like I was in labor for about 4 hrs after insertion and had some light spotting. By the next day I was fine. Many other women I know felt no change after insertion. I think you should base it on how you generally handle pain. For most women, taking a test the day wouldn’t be an issue, but everyone is different. The only thing is, there is of course the extremely rare complication during insertion (such as perforation), and it by some freak chance that happened, then your test would be screwed up.

The IUD can be used as an emergency contraception and must be inserted within 5 to 8 days (ideally within 120 hours) after unprotected sex.
