There are a lot of psychology references available on body language. Here are some general tips to seem less intimidating:
- Be mindful of the space between you. A lot of men stand closer to women they're attracted to. (Or the opposite happens in which they avoid her out of nervousness). Often times they're not even aware they're doing it. Try to maintain the same proxemics with women as you would with men until you guys get to know each other.

- A genuine smile makes you seem less intimidating in most cases.
- Either stand side-by-side when speaking to each other or chat face-to-face, but do not approach someone from behind. If you're not in full-view of someone, you're more likely to be perceived as a threat. Studies that women have higher stress responses than men when someone begins talking from behind them. It might be attributed to differences in size. (Unfortunately, this situation occurs a lot when a guy is staring at woman's derrière lol.)
