The bible has been proven wrong from end to end.
There are more atheists now, because people are smarter, and better informed. The more we learn of reality, the less we need to invent dumb god things to explain it.
We are way past that now. At least most of us are.

What it says in The Bible has no effect on atheists because atheists don't believe in God and, mainly, that's what The Bible's about.

I think there are many reasons why atheism is on the rise. The main one is that more and more people are simply “coming out” and admitting that they don't believe in God. Also, of course, I guess greater numbers of people are simply realising that most of the contents of The Bible is not literally true and that there is no God. Another important reason is that young people are growing up in societies where religion is only a tiny part.

Because they have the education and intelligence to know the truth and live in reality!

Research shows whilst education reduces religious belief each year of further education reduces religious belief by up to 10%!

Also the terrible intolerance, hatred, bigotry, homophobia and persecution by Christians towards others not only drive people further away from God but are the reason so many DECENT people are becoming ANTI THEISTS!

Because we are transitioning to a new age. The second law of thermodynamics (disorder is always increasing in the universe) applies to the spiritual health of the world as well as other things. Thus God periodically must, sort of 'restart' things. The last time He did this was when Jesus came to earth.

More people than ever before have a modern scientific worldview and reject ancient philosophical superstitions. As for the Bible, it's nothing more than ancient propaganda, collected, compiled, and translated into Latin by a fourth century government committee and intended to legitimize the Roman Empire's last state sponsored religion -- Catholicism.
