Why do we call dark matter "dark"?

We cannot detect the type of radiation that it emits.

It blocks out all light behind it.

It emits no visible light.

It emits, scatters or absorbs no or very little radiation of any wavelength.

I think this dark matter is needed to explain the balance of angular momentum. The observed and estimated angular momentum seem to be much smaller than that is required. Therefore, they expect more matter. This matter is not seen but estimated. Therefore, it is called as the dark matter.

The same reason we xall black holes black... it just means we don't know much about it, it does not refer to the color
