Condom is made up of latex or rubber which I think it's a kind of plastic that shouldn't degrade so fast, in that case, why does condom usually have expiry date?

Latex degrades pretty quickly. It's a natural 'rubber'. It's not mixed with other substances to keep the condom flexible. The Iubricant on it also gets smelly, possibly due to bacteria or fungal growth. It is moist and enclosed in a small dark packet after all. Don't risk it.

Condoms don't have "expiration" dates; they don't "expire" - not unless you carry one around inside your wallet for year. Then, the heat it's been subjected to might cause one to break.

Latex is not plastic, it's made from a naturally occuring substance and it DOES degrade over time. Ever pulled an old rubber band out of a drawer and it breaks when you try to stretch it? Same thing happens to condoms.

Natural rubber degrades quite rapidly after being coated. Just because you don't think it should doesn't make it so.

If it is stored at high temperature it can degrade. Read YA for comments like "the condom broke".

Pregnancy is the risk of using an expired condom. Latex/rubber products do degrade, and quite quickly too, in hot humid climates. Anyone who lives or has lived in a tropical climate will well understand that. It's quite likely that the product will be safe for longer than the expiry date but so much depends on temperature of humidity that manufacturers err on the side of caution, as an unwanted pregnancy is completely counter to what the product exists for.
