What happened to my TD Bank account?

2019-03-23 1:22 am
I was negative in my checking but I also had a savings (0 balance) connected to the account. I checked back onto my online account and was shown, "Please check with your company's online banking administrator." and it won't let me do anything. All evidence of the account is gone, I checked my credit report and there were no reported debts or anything like it. Will that show up come the beginning of next month? Does this mean I can't open up a new bank account elsewhere and I still responsible for this money?

They blocked access to it so you don't steal any more of their money.

If the only accounts you have total a negative balance...that's why you are blocked...

Pay off the negative balance and it should be unblocked.

Of course you're still responsible for the money. They've closed your account because you've either run a negative balance too often or you've let it go on too long. Expect to be reported to ChexSystems very soon which will prevent you from opening an account anywhere else.

Hey, actually the same thing happened to me but with Chase. If your balance in an account is negative for over 60 days then often the branch will close the account. You *are* able to open a bank account somewhere else and the negative balance will not be there, but you may get debt collection letters for the past negative balance depending on the circumstances.

The very fact you get that message is IRREFUTABLE proof the account exists. If you FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS and contact the bank, they will tell you the account is FROZEN until you pay what you owe, at which point it will be closed.
