Assume that the surface area of a cell in the lungs that is exposed to air is square-shaped. As a result of a prescription drug if the cell swells and its length doubles, by what factor would its exposed surface area increase?
Also,
If the cell in the above question was cube-shaped, by what factor would its volume increase when its length increases by a factor of two?
回答 (2)
Factor of area increase
= 2²
= 4
Factor of volume increase
= 2³
= 8
Square-shaped? Does this mean a cube (6 squares)? Surely, it is not 2D.
SA = 2Lw +2Lh + 2wh
L = w = h
SA = 6w^2 originally
SA = 2(2w)w +2(2w)h + 2wh = 10w^2
SA increased 2/3 times. The new shape has 5/3 times the surface area of the original.
V = Lwh = w^3
New V = 2w*wh = 2w^3
