There is nothing to worry at all.

1. If the law firm has an issue, Hong Kong Law Society can take over control of the firm to protect the clients.

2. Regardless of the holiday, you won't get the cheque until everything has been settled (the law firm is within its rights to hold the sale proceeds to settle all costs).

3. The buyer has the same situation as you do. If the cheque can't be cashed, the transfer is invalid.
