on his porch是介詞片語當地奌副詞用修飾動詞sitting，所以置於句尾亦可，較易分析本句結構，而sit,stand,lie等動作動詞其後接哯在分詞表同時動作，The old man is sitting watching the sunset on his porch.而將on his porch 置於前，係強調此地點

沒有連詞是因為他的subject還是the old man, 並沒有變成his porch. 況且他也沒有逗號.
