pH problem?

the pH is found by the formula pH=log(1/[H+]) where [H+] is the hydrogen ion concentration in moles per liter. Solutions with a pH value of less than 7 are acidic, and greater than 7 is basic. equal to 7 is neutral.

1.What is a simpler log formula for pH?

2. You test a sample of ammonia and find [H+] = 1.875 x 10^-11
find the pH value?
is it basic or acidic?

3. You test a tomato juice sample and find [H+] = 7.94 x 10^-5
find the ph value
is it basic or acidic?

please help! even if its just one or part of a problem (especially finding ph value)

1.
pH = log(1/[H⁺])
pH = log[H⁺]⁻¹
Hence, pH = -log[H⁺]

2.
pH = -log(1.875 × 10⁻¹¹) = 10.73
Since pH > 7, it is basic.

3.
pH = -log(7.94 × 10⁻⁵) = 4.10
Since pH < 5, it is acidic.

1. log(1/[H+]) = -log[H+].

2. log(1.875 x 10^(-11))
= log(1.875) - 11
now use calculator
= 0.273 - 11 = -10.727.
The pH is 10.73, and it's quite a strong base.

3. log(7.94 x 10^(-5))
= log(7.94) - 5
now use calculator
= 0.900 - 5 = -4.100.
The pH is 4.10, which is quite acidic.
