Let 3n the number of 50 cent coins.
Then, the number of 20 cent coins = 5n
and the number of 10 cent coins = 10n

Totol number of coins:
3n + 5n + 10n = 180
18n = 180
n = 10

Hence, the number of 50 cents coins = 3(10) = 30 …… (answer)

Check:
Total amount
= 3(10)($0.5) + 5(10)($0.2) + 10(10)($0.1)
= $35

Hence, the number of 50 cent coins is 30.

As up the numbers in the ratio:
3 + 5 + 10 = 18

The total coins is 180, so that's 10 sets.
180 / 18 = 10

Multiply every number in the ratio by 10 to get the actual number of each coin:
30 : 50 : 100

Hence:
30 of the 50-cent coins ($15)
50 of the 20-cent coins ($10)
100 of the 10-cent coins ($10)

Answer:
30 of the 50-cent coins

A trick with ratios is to add them together to find the number of parts:
3 + 5 + 10 = 18 parts
The total is 180, therefore each part is 180/18 = 10 coins
3 parts = 3 x 10 = 30

30 x 50c coins

Knowing the total is $35 is irrelevant.

a + b + c = 180
The number of 50 cent coins
in the bag is 30.

50c, 20c & 10c coins.
3:5:10 ratio
$1.50, $1.00, $1.00 = $3.50 per set 3(50c),5(20c), 10(10c) per set
$35.00 = 10 sets 30+50+100=180
10*(3(50c) = 30(50c)
30

let x,y,z be number of 50¢, 20¢, 10¢ coins
x+y+z = 180
3/5 = x/y
5/10 = y/z
50x + 20y + 10z = 3500

you have 3 unknowns, 4 equations. something is redundant

3/5 = x/y
5x = 3y
x = (3/5)y
5/10 = y/z = 1/2
z = 2y
x+y+z = 180
(3/5)y + y + (2y) = 180
3y + 5y + 10y = 900
18y = 900
y = 50
x = (3/5)y = 30
z = 2y = 100

check
x+y+z = 180
30+50+100 = 180 ok
ratio 3:5:10
30:50:100 ok

check on unused equation
50x + 20y + 10z = 3500
50•30 + 20•50 + 10•100 = 3500
1500 + 1000 + 1000 = 3500 ok

Well, since the ratio is 3:5:10, that means that they come in sets of 3 fifty cent coins, 5 twenty cent coins, and 10 ten cent coins, meaning a total of 18 coins per set. Take 180 and divide it by 18, and you get 10, meaning there are ten sets of 18 coins with the given ratio. Since in each set there are 3 fifty cent coins, and there are 10 sets, 3 times 10 is 30, so you have 30 fifty cent coins.

There are NO 20 cent coins.

The 20 cent coins are counterfeit and don't count towards the $35 total.

There are 3 half-dollars for every 10 dimes.

let H be the number of half dollars and D the number of Dimes

3H=10D, so D = (3/10)*H

$35 = .5*H + .1*D = .5*H + (3/100)*h = .53H

So H = 3500/53
