How do you use the Arrhenius concept of acid and base to explain the acidity of AlCl3?
回答 (1)
AlCl₃ dissociates in aqueous solution to form [Al(H₂O)₆]³⁺ and Cl⁻ ions.
AlCl₃(s) + 6H₂O(l) → [Al(H₂O)₆]³⁺(aq) + 3Cl⁻(aq)
According to Arrhenius concept of acid and base, Al(H₂O)₆³⁺ is acidic because it give off H⁺ ions on ionization.
[Al(H₂O)₆]³⁺(aq) → [Al(H₂O)₅(OH)]²⁺(aq) + H⁺(aq)
