my land line phone isn't working since my Echo was hooked up. No sound is heard either by the caller or the one being called?

The electronic "Echo" is usually connected via Wi-Fi. Your land line is typically hard wired to your house server, some times called a gate-way or a modem. The two, your echo or house phone, are typically unrelated. What I am strongly suspecting, is, your phone is unplugged from your utility power company, or phone's battery is not being charged. Borrow a friend's house phone, or take yours over there and exchange phones for a little continuity test. That will better expose the nature of your problem.

Unplug the echo. If it affects your land line, you must be using dsl internet, and the filters aren't installed correctly. Or is your land line a cordless phone?
