Someone hit my truck 5 days ago and fled. I provided the license plate to police and they were going to obtain footage from Macy s. I called for an update and they have what they need.
Why is it taking so long for the person to be arrested?

"Why is it taking so long for the person to be arrested?" Because this is not CSI on TV and a hit and run is not a murder. Sure, a warrant was probably issued as soon as they identified the person responsible. However the manhunt has not started and never will.
If that person is arrested tomorrow or never, it is not really your problem anyway. You report the damage to your insurance company. You provide them with the information you have. They will obtain a copy of the police report. If they believe they can collect, they will go after the person responsible.

The cops might issue a warrant, but the odds are they aren't going to go looking for him unless it's a small town. Cities have bigger things to deal with and they usually get pulled over eventually.
