How long will it take for my natural hair to come in at the roots?

I relaxed my hair after being natural for about a year. But realized I prefer my natural hair. So I’m trying to figure out how long will it take for my natural coils to come back? I know I’ll probably have to do a big chop. But I like my hair short and natural🤦🏾♀️🙄

Human hair grows at an average rate of 1/2 inch per month, or 6" per year. However, curly hair does not grow straight down, but circles back on itself. So, the curlier your hair, the longer it will take to reach a certain length.
