what is your take on the plurality of life?

Cosmic pluralism, the plurality of worlds, or simply pluralism, describes the philosophical belief in numerous "worlds" (planets, dwarf planets or natural satellites) in addition to Earth (possibly an infinite number), which may harbor extraterrestrial life. The debate over pluralism began as early as the time of Anaximander (c. 610 – c. 546 BC) as a metaphysical argument, long predating the scientific Copernican conception that the Earth is one of the numerous planets. It has continued, in a variety of forms, until the modern era.

The plurality of life position is obviously true, because the opposite opinion requires belief in magic.
The Earth is not a magic planet.

Chances are good that many other planets have life, because there are so many planets. But will are still looking for proof.

No matter what you call it... the belief in the possibility of life beyond Earth is simply opinion. With a sample of *one* planet in the universe with life on it, it's difficult to judge whether a planet with life is common, rare, or one-of-a-kind...

My opinion is that we're one of millions... but - that could be wrong. We'll have to wait for evidence - either way - to be found.

The odds are extremely good that life exists elsewhere. There are just so many planets, that life would arise if life is the product of natural processes, even if only under very specific constraints.

Kind of like the lottery. A given player is very unlikely to win, but as long as there are enough players, there will be winners somewhere. Well, there are a lot of players in this game.

It seems very likely that life has arisen elsewhere.

Because a "technological" species may extinguish itself in a (cosmically) short time, the probability of communication among species in different planetary systems could be vanishingly small.

It would be silly to assume we are the only ones here
