✔ 最佳答案
It shows Jesus and his twelve followers (,who are) taking a meal together just before his death.
本句名詞(Jesus and his twelve followers)的修飾語(此為非限定性質的修飾語)可以用「形容詞子句」who are ....或是「分詞片語」taking ...。(用action verb的現在分詞當修飾語用時,表示係主動或正在發生)
It = the picture ,為本句的「主詞」(在聽者或讀者知道it所指為何時,可不必用名詞)。
Jesus and his twelve followers為動詞shows的受詞。「受詞」是本句的句焦點(主要訊息:畫裡的人物是什麼人)。後面非限定性質的修飾語在本句屬於次要的訊息(他們正在做什麼事)。
本句裡沒有「同位語」。

His current research, investigating attitudes to racial stereotypes, take up most of his time.
兩個逗號之間的「動名詞片語」是前面名詞research的「同位語」。
同位語是「名詞」性質的。因此形容詞性質的「分詞」不可能做為同位語。

It is my greatest pleasure taking a meal together with you.這裡的taking ...則是delayed subject。而前面的it是「虛主詞」。

這句話的主要動詞是show. 整個話是在描述一幅畫.taking可以被被當作分詞片語,用來形容Jesus and ... followers. 或者是Jesus...takining a meal together...just before ... 被當作 分詞片語 當作 it 的同位語. 所以一定要用taking.

因在"顯示""show"的同時,那是"進行的狀態"(即正在進行中),故使用taking,是進行式。
而由另一角度來說
taking 是分詞,分詞可用來補述主詞的"狀態"。

因此不管從何方向來說,動詞都必須加ing.

"take"==as a verb transitive or verb intransitive; with its meaning of have;eat or drink; give, allow or get for oneself: 享有, 吃; 喝; 為自己而給予;允許, 或得到. "taking a meal together"==taking as a present participle or adjective to modify his twelve followers Yip
