Because describing a dish as overspiced cat might put people off.

Because they are Chinese and Indian restaurants.

If you want a menu in English, go to an American restaurant. Or, an English restaurant.

i enjoy Chinese food and am willing to experiment, but don't speak Chinese or any other foreign language, and haven't a clue what constitutes 'Peking Style' or what 'Char Sui' 'actually is , and it could take years to find out simply by giving it a try.
Wouldn't it be beneficial to both potential customer and to the restaurant if a description of the dish was also described in plain English. Immediately the range of dishes would be better understood, the customer confusion would be totally eliminated, and customer business should increase due to the greater understanding.
