How to implement non-religious modesty?

Ive recently been toying around with the idea of dressing more modestly, including wearing a headscarf when permitted. Im not religious by any means, but i do like the idea of only my finance being able to see certain parts of my body, or being able to... Visually enjoy the shape of it and things that contribute to it's beauty. I want to feel more like i belong to him and only him, becuase after having a little bit of a history of sleeping around and being taken advantage of sexually, im happy to be in my stable, wonderful, long term relationship. But i just dont know how to go about it, because i dont want people to assume i'm religous and treat me differently or have to explain all of this repeatedly. Advice?

Dress how you want, for whatever reason you want. You can't stop people from assuming things but you don't owe them any explanations.

It seems to me that you care too much about what other people might think about your choice in clothes.

Dress the way you like. If it looks religious, people may assume that you are religious; but you can always explain that you aren't, if the subject comes up; or if you want to clarify yourself before it comes up.
