How soon after becoming sexually active should pap smears start?

This is in the UK, where routine pap smear tests start at 25 years and above and happen every 3 years, rather than at 21 and above and happen every year, as the US system does.

If someone in a virgin past 25, how soon after coitarche (first sexual activity) should they then start going for pap smears? Whenever the next 3 year reminder from the NHS arrives?

You must go at 25. it is possible to have cervical cancer or an erosion whether you are active or not.
I for one think it should be reduced to 21.
think Jade Goody, google her.
If you are over 25 now, then ask your Doctor for a test asap.

PAP smears start at 25 - that's the answer, whether sexually active or not.

The doctor should prompt you for your first and subsequent PAP smears at the right times.
