Because it wants to be silent.
So that when it is spoken it is not mistaken for "Ants Were" or "Ants Wear" or "Ants Where"
Examples:
Answer my question!
Ants were my question!
Answer my question!
Ants wear my question.
Answer my question!
Ants? Where my question?
