請問有沒有朋友或在入境處做的仁兄仁姊 知唔知道: 在澳洲出生的孩子，如果父親是有香港身份証的，母親是外地國籍的，孩子可不可以申請香港身份証？ 謝謝！?

The key to this question is the father's nationality and status in Australia at the time the child was born.

1. Having a HKID does not equate to be a Chinese citizen (If the father is not a Chinese citizen, then the child can only qualified for a HKID via a dependent visa from the father).

2. The father's status in Australia matters. If the father was an Australian citizen or PR at the time of birth, then the child can only qualified for a HKID via a dependent visa from the father. If the father has no relationship with Australia (i.e. the child is not an Australian), then the child will be a Chinese citizen by descent.

中 國 公 民 在 香 港 特 區 成 立 以 前 或 以 後 在 香 港 以 外 所 生 的 中 國 籍 子 女 ， 而 在 該 子 女 出 生 時 ， 該 中 國 公 民 是 屬 於 上 述 (a) 或 (b) 項 類 別 的 人 士 。
任 何 人 士 作 為 此 項 所 指 的 香 港 特 區 永 久 性 居 民 的 身 份 而 享 有 居 留 權 ， 只 在 確 立 了 香 港 特 區 永 久 性 居 民 的 身 份 時 方 可 行 使 ， 而 他 / 她 只 可 藉 其 持 有 以 下 文 件 確 立 ：
發 予 他 / 她 的 有 效 居 留 權 證 明 書 並 且 已 附 貼 於 其 有 效 旅 行 證 件 上 ；
