"please tell me..." ( or "could you tell me ...") is commonly used as a polite way of asking information.

When asking for confirmation of a statement, we often use "whether or if" instead of "that".
~ Please tell me if I should do it.

When asking for confession of something you think is true, we can use "tell me that ...".
~ Tell me (that) you love me. (=admit to me...)
~ Tell me you are wrong.
~ Tell me you have stolen my watch.

how = in what way (the way in which ....)
~ I don`t like the way in which he deals with the crisis.
