Find ΔE° (kJ) for the reaction below if the process is carried out at a constant pressure of 1.00 atm and ΔV (the volume change) = -24.5 L. (1 L ∙ atm = 101 J)
2 CO(g) + O2 (g) → 2 CO2(g) ΔH° = -566. kJ

✔ 最佳答案
w = (1.00 atm) x (24.5 L) x (101 J/L∙atm) = 2474.5 J = 2.47 kJ
(Since the volume decreased, work was done on the system, so the value for w is positive.)

To find ΔE° add the positive work to ΔH°, which is the heat:
-566. kJ + 2.47 kJ = -564 kJ
