How are arranged marriage and marriage practices in the United States (monogamy) similar and different?

Arranged marriages are very uncommon in the US. But typically in those scenarios the people involved will ask their parents or trusted friends to vet prospects for them then introduce them to someone they might be compatible with. This isn't really that dissimilar from a standard love match where people have been set up by friends. It's just that the former often comes with the stigma of being forced rather than just arranged.
