JFK, I was in the backyard playing football with friends when we heard about him being shot.
I was born under Carter but Reagan was in office by the time I was old enough to be aware.
Eisenhower was president when I was born, but the first I remember was Kennedy. During the campaign, kids in the neighborhood chanted, "Kennedy, Kennedy, he's our man! Nixon belongs in the garbage can!"
We didn't find out how right we were for quite a few years...
I remember Reagan a bit, but was too young to understand much of what was going on. I remember Bush Senior better, and he seemed to do a decent job. I liked Clinton a lot and he seemed to help the economy, despite his infidelities. I thought W. would be one of the least eloquent presidents ever, but Trump beats him in that department. W. managed to really run the country into the ground and then win re-election by fear from 9/11. I think Obama had to use several years just to get things on good footing, but never had a chance during his 2nd term due to the senate and house blocking almost everything he did. And Trump... well, I just hope we're smart enough to choose someone new in 2020. He's not doing anything to help public education or health care and those are my top two concerns.
Eisenhower
Did you know that back then the end of western civilization was prophesied by the popularity of Elvis Presley?
I was merely 6 mo. old when Kennedy was assassinated.
I still hear so-many-kudos about the Kennedy-era, today.
The first president I remember was Harry Truman.
Nixon. I was in 3rd grade when Watergate happened. Even though I didn't understand what it was about, I did understand that some people were angry at President Nixon, and that became my first memory that had to do with a President.
I was born when LBJ was president, but the one I remember more was Nixon.
One of my memories of that ime wasn't directly related to Nixon though.
It was the news showing the helicopters being pushed over the edge of the flight decks of the carriers when they evacuated the embassy in Saigon.
That's indirectly related to Nixon, because he was the one who was president during the Paris peace talks and the end of the Vietnam war.
Ford, and we never lived under a President. Ford was in office managing government agencies, and left the people alone to go about their own affairs. People did not live under government in the past.
"Go fix the rabbit ears on the t.v.".
"But, it's not my turn".
"Stay there and put it on channel 5".
"I'm hungry, and the snow won't stop on the t.v."!
"Stay there and work at it until it stops".
"Who's that on t.v."?
"That's the President".
"What does the President do"?
"The President makes sure government officials do not find their way into your private life and steal everything you own, or that you don't make your own decisions".
"Why would they want to do that"?
"So your responsible for their crimes, and not your own choices".
"Is that what government is"?
"Only in America"
Ford
JFK. I remember how much my father said he was screw up. My dad was completely right. JFK like most presidents create their own crises.
Born during the Ford administration and the very first president I remember was Ronald Reagan.
Carter.
Alive before this but he was the first memory of a politician.
The long gas lines of 79 and the reasons turned my attention for the first time to politics.
Bill Clinton remember when he said I did not have sexual relations with that woman, that's because he was to busy pounding my fat rosey red *** to be interested in them other hoes trump+obama+hillary= great dp pronto anyways the answer is I was under bill
I remember Ford first. I was born during Nixon's term but I was too young to remember him.
Nixon. He scared the bejeebus out of me when I was little.
I was born during the Johnson era. However, I don't remember him, because I was too young. Afterwards, I barely acknowledged Nixon and Ford. However, the one that first captured my serious notice was Carter. In fact, I remember the excitement that my grade school class had over his campaign for president. We were talking about whether we would choose him, or not. However, many of my classmates tended to prefer whoever their parents voted for. I guess that's why such young children aren't considered to be old enough to vote.
Eisenhower. I was born when Truman was president, but I was 4 when the Republicans captured the White House. Can't remember Truman at all.
Bill Clinton, but I was too young to know what was going on. George HW Bush was president when I was born, but it was coming to the end of his term.
Eisenhower, I even shook hands with him in London back in 1958
Eisenhower. But only because Dad did not like him. Was in political talk on the front porch. Kennedy was when I became politically aware.
I remember Ford briefly, then Carter.
I'm in Australia, I didn't really have much knowledge of that stuff until Clinton, although I would have been around for Reagan and Bush snr in theory. My favorite one would be Clinton. Ironically, impeached for nothing.
I remember the good ol' days when Washington was president.
Ronald Motherfuckin Reagan
President Eisenhower, though I was actually born during the Truman administration.
Reagan (I'm British though)
I barely remember President Eisenhower. I vaguely remember one of the Kennedy/Nixon debates. I do remember being sent home that otherwise sunny afternoon in November, 1963 when President Kennedy was assassinated.
Nobody born in the late 90s remembers CLinton.
Jimmy Carter. I was born in 71
Kennedy before he was shot...
On January 8, 1790, President George Washington delivered to Congress the first State of the Union address in American history.
Being born in 1990, I only remember Bush Jr., Obama, and now Trump. I only know of Bill Clinton, by what people have told me, and what I've read about him.
when i was born the president was George w bush. but im british
I remember being under Reagan
I remember doing a mock election in school when Bush was elected.
I remember the 1st Bush. He didnt do anything special that I can remember but, he wasnt bad but, his son sure in the hell was.
Reagan, but I was 8 when he left office so all I remember about him was that he was the President. What that really meant I obviously didn't grasp.
i remember when JFK was shot
Definitely George W. Bush, as I was born in 2000, meaning I was born less than a year before Bill Clinton left office. I remember the Iraq War and Great Recession very well despite the fact that I was still only a child.
Kennedy. Although I wasnt old enough to understand what had happened I remember my parents being very upset.
every kid in 2018 be like Trump.
I"m 85, it was Franklin Roosevelt !
Reagan. He was the last great president
Eisenhower. I was born, during Truman's Presidency, but I was too young to understand politics.
You must be quite young. The one that was in office when I was born was Nixon, that gives you some idea how old I am. But the first one I can remember being conscious of was Jimmy Carter.
"By the year 2060, Americans will probably remember as much about the 39th and 40th presidents, Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan, as they now remember about our 13th president, Millard Fillmore," Henry L. Roediger III, one of the study's authors, said in a statement.
The first American president whom I remember for certain from my perspective in Britain was Eisenhower, elected when I was 10. I remember the slogan "I like Ike".
Bill Clinton. But I was a kid. But I vividly remember Bush.
Eisenhower. He was inaugurated 6 weeks before I was born, the day after Stalin died. Yes, my mother did do a double take. She was almost a history major in college.
The first president I remember was Harry Truman.
I am from the UK. The first one I remember is Kennedy, and the newsflash on the BBC of his murder.
Harry Truman, I was born in August 1945 and my father was very political
I remember living under my man Barack Obama, but George W. Bush was in office for a good part of my childhood, but I didn't understand what a president was at that time. Sorry I wasn't a politically active 4 year old.
Harry Truman, I was born in August 1945 and my father was very political
The first thing I can remember seeing on tv is JFK's funeral.
Erap [Pres. Joseph Estrada now mayor of Manila]
Bush? I never keep up with that stuff as I am a poor person.
Mexican- Ernesto Zedillo
American- Must have been Bill Clinton, but I remember George W. Bush (Dubya) better.
I was born in ‘96. The earliest time I can remember is around my 4th birthday in 2000, which happened under Clinton.
FDR....in my house Roosevelt was a god!
I remember back in 3rd grade participating in a mock election among the students, Nixon vs. McGovern. I was upset when McGovern lost, and one of the other students chanted "Nixon, Nixon, he's our man! Throw McGovern in the garbage can!" I didn't rub Watergate into his face when it happened, though in retrospect I would have liked to.
I was born under FDR but remember little of President Truman. Under Ike is what I remember, for I had to fight because I would not keep my mouth shut. Being one of six in a class of 49 students who stood up as a Democrat in a town of Republicans, didn't win a fight.
JFK, Taylor. I remember his death and funeral, too.
Born at the end very end of Bush 41 administration so Clinton.
USA: Bill Clinton
Philippines: Joseph Estrada
Kennedy, I remember, but I was born under Eisenhower.
I am a Korean, Park Jeonghee.
Classified. Feel free to recall
what Area 51 initially contained.
"By the year 2060, Americans will probably remember as much about the 39th and 40th presidents, Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan, as they now remember about our 13th president, Millard Fillmore," Henry L. Roediger III, one of the study's authors, said in a statement.
Jfk, he was shot on my bday
Thankfully I've never lived 'under' a US President.
