Now a days, 3 kinds of SIM cards available.

1. Standard size SIM (15 x 25mm)
2. Micro size SIM (12 x 15mm)

There are 4 sizes plus embedded SIM cards. The original credit card size SIM is no longer used. Most devices use micro SIM cards.

There are 4 sizes of sim. The actual chip is the same size, the amount of plastic around it is the difference from credit card sized (never used these days but I had an phone in the olden times that used it) to nano sim (mostly no plastic beyond whats needed to determine orientation)

thesze days there are 3 sized sim regular (was mini), micro and nano

I think it depends on how big the phone is how big the card needs to be

No, and some cell phones take a certain sim, not size (most take nano) but only some sims work with some devices, had this problem a little bit ago but apparently i needed a different sim for my phone even though it fit!

If they are in the same category, yes.

In the last couple of years (say since 2007 when the iPhone debuted) (even before then in cases) there are

miniSIMs
microSIMs
nanoSIMs
eSIMs (though this one is not a physical SIM)

nanoSIM smaller than microSIM which is smaller than a miniSIM
