Spinning reels can cast lighter lures than baitcasters.

People like different reels. I generally use a bait cast in fresh water and a spinning reel in salt water.
Both can be used in either.

You use what you're comfortable using. Baitcasters can cast light lures just as far as a spinning reel when set up correctly.

A lot depends on the personal likes and dislikes of the person doing the fishing. I only use spinner reels. But the baitcaster handles heaver lures and can be place with more accrue that a spinner in some cases: which also depend one the person using either rig. Hope I helped in some small way.

You don't actually have to change... I use spinning reals almost exclusively. The fish don't care which one you use.
