Assuming the police has been faulted:

1. Your brother must be able to prove that he was not related to the case that the police should not have investigated him; and,

2. Your sister-in-law must be able to prove that the miscarriage was related to the search, or at the minimum, the search was illegal.

It is simply too many needed to be proved to have a case.
