Container "A" holds N2 gas with a mass of 56.2 g and is 4.4 times the volume of container "B" which holds argon (Ar) gas at the exact same temperature and pressure.What is the mass of the Ar (in g) within container "B"?

For any ideal gas:
PV = nRT and n = m/M, where M is the molar mass of the gas
Then, PV = (m/M)RT
VM/m = RT/P

R and M are constant. When P and T are also constant: VM/m = constant
Hence, V₁M₁/m₁ = V₂M₂/m₂
m₂ = m₁ × (V₂/V₁) × (M₂/M₁)

Container A: V₁ = 4.4 V₂, M₁ (N₂) = 14.0×2 g/mol = 28.0 g/mol
Container B: V₂ = V₂, M₂ (Ar) = 40.0 g/mol

Mass of Ar in container "B" = (56.2 g) × (V₁/4.4V₁) × (40.0/28.0) = 18.2 g (to 3 sig. fig.)

(56.2 g N2) / (28.01344 g N2/mol) x 4.4 x (39.948 g Ar/mol) = 353 g Ar
