Do you think will have a high opportunity of advancement in the company if I start working at the Disney store?

Im 24 and have about 5 years or more of retail experience. I attend college part time as an engineer major and I want to work at walt Disney world in the future as an imagineer. It's a big dream of mine and I always wondered if working at the Disney store would be a good start for my career. Has anyone ever worked at the Disney store and do you think I will have opportunities for advancement through my time in college? If I start though I would be seasonal with a chance of becoming permanent by the end of the year.

From retail store to imagineer is a decently large jump. Want to be an imagineer...finish college.
Work the retail store for now, through college. At the least, you can prove you are a reliable employee....just don't screw up the retail job or you might jeopardize your future with the company as a whole.

Unless you apply for a management job, or if you have management experience NO.
Retail isn't a career, it's a job and typically dead end jobs if there's no room to move up.
Becoming a permanent employee, you would have to be on your best behavior. Show up to work and on time and follow every policy and procedure that they train you on. Be an exceptional employee and go the extra mile for customers if you want to make it past the holidays.
I worked 10 + years in a store that I wanted to work for, never got the chance to move up. I started out as seasonal but they decided to keep me on.

No. Most people already know the characters. Those stores just sell overpriced crapola. Has nothing to do with engineering or creativity.

I think you would be better of going to school full time. Even if you have to take loans to pay for it, the salary you will easily make up for the missed income now.

I don't think working at the Disney Store will create any other opportunities for you within The Walt Disney Company.
