2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee question, it has 2wd and full time 4wd. Can I stay in full time 4wd all the time?
Can I stay in full time 4wd all the time when driving normally or only when the roads are wet/snowing? I’d assume I could all the time but why not just make the car 4x4 in the first place?

No. 4WD should only be used in snow, sand, or mud.
Driving on dry pavement will wear your tires up and put extra stress on the drive train.
4WD also uses more gasoline.

READ the owner's manual. It is NOT a full time 4WD vehicle. It just gives you the OPTION of having 4WD when you NEED it.
What you probably have is a Quadra-Drive, which employed the New Venture Gear NV247 transfer case. (Notice the twentyfour seven in the name.) In 4-Full Time, 100% of torque is sent to the rear axle in normal conditions. If the rear axle starts spinning at a higher rate than the front axle, hydraulic pressure builds up in the gerotor and causes the clutch pack to progressively transfer torque to the front axle until both axles return to the same speed.
You can leave in the 4wd selection all time, but it is not recommended by Jeep and will prematurely wear the transfer case and transmission.
It doesn't have full time 4x4, it has select-track. Read your owners manual.
Only use 4wd when you actually need it.
