Economically? It sure is. Affluence is not common on that continent, and the Chinese know they can corner their markets with a flood of cheap products and services.

That's a good question, and one that many Africans are wondering. Many are skeptical of China, and Chinese companies.

China is really pursuing their own interests, rather than acting in an altruistic manner. Their primary objective is ensuring access to natural resources that they want for their own economic growth, and to grow their influence on the continent.

It CAN still benefit African nations and Africans themselves - Most African countries are in desperate need of capital and infrastructure, and Chinese investment brings both. But they are justified in being wary of the Chinese.

It could be if the aim is to develop an economy where there is none without the intent to control or purely exploit. Time will tell.
