An obstetrician is a kind of electrician who specializes in three-phase power -- the kind that's used in many industrial plants, and which is carried along those high-tension wires you see hanging from those huge towers that often stand alongside large Interstate highways. This is different from the kind of electric power that you plug your household appliances into, so it needs specialist electricians (obstetricians) to engineer and maintain the equipment.
