It is a story about Bun Festival in Cheung Chau Island which is located in South west of Lantau Island. According to the history, it was during the 18th century, the island was devastated by a plague and infiltrated by pirates who massacred the locals. Fishermen brought an image of the God, Pak Tai to the island to try and placate the ghosts of murdered victims by parading it around the lanes. The evil spirits were driven away and hence the island celebrates the annual four-day thanksgiving festival, around April or May. Visitors flock here to see the festivities, most famously the enormous towers of buns built in front of the Pak Tai temple, which people previously tried to climb to reach the highest buns for good luck, until an accident causing many injuries ended the fun. Ornately costumed children are 'mounted' on rods and carried above the crowds, as though floating. Without doubt, it's the island's busiest time of the year and one of Hong Kong's most colorful festivals, the Bun Festival is a huge carnival specific to Cheung Chau. Yip
