I am 17 years old and I have done a welding trade school course and now have the offer from a company to train me up and work as a ironworker should I take this? Would it be good career?

It's certainly not an easy career not only because it's physical, but because you will often find yourself unemployed between projects and in the winter. Regardless you might as well go for it and see how you like it. You can always go back to school after a few years or find a 8-5 factory job.

Journeymen union ironworkers make big bucks but it's hard work. I come from a family of union ironworkers.

It's well-paid once you complete training. If you like the work, it's an excellent trade to learn.
