In your opinion... For the average joe, does more money equal more freedom or less freedom?

From what I can tell, if you have more money (talking about what a management executive or lawyer makes) then you have more financial freedom, but less time freedom (ie, you’re working all the time). If you have what the average person makes (like what a salesperson or skilled tradesman makes) then you have less financial freedom, but more time freedom (since you can put in 40 hours, then enjoy your time off). Thoughts?

Everything has some sort of price tag. More money means more responsibilities, more having-to-be-accountable, more stress .. and often a lot more hours. Which means less of a personal life because you don't have the time.

One thing it does NOT do is make you happier. Oh, for a little while, but within a year you have adjusted to this new income level and you go back to being no happier than you were before. Even for those who win millions on the lottery, this is so.

What matters most is how much you enjoy what you are DOING. Yes, it is good to have freedom from financial uncertainty, to have a roof over your head and food in your belly, and good to be able to get your teeth fixed if needed ... and a bit of pocket money is even better.

No one is all that free though. You are not free to avoid paying taxes, are not free to stay young or avoid sickness, old age or death. Learning how to relax and accept reality is far more useful for being happy, than trying to be "free".
