How to play mind games with a mind player?

Okay so before I fill you in on the details, don't answer unless you plan on actually helping me with my question. I met this guy a couple of weeks ago who was really intriguing and charming. he made it seem like he was transparent, goes hours sometimes days without messaging me when he's obviously online and then he claims his phones just being weird. If he detects the slightest shade from me he throws it back, like hes trying to test if ill call him out. it wasnt till recently that ive been picking up all the pieces when one of my friends, someone who knows this person very well told me that he played mind games. then i did some research on how mind players are and he matched every description. he intrigues me very much and id like to know how to play mind games back with him. just so he knows that I know. hes a very smart person and i know this will be quite the challenge.
