How do I know whether someone uninstalled Kik or lost their phone?

I've been texting my friend and all my texts are out on S. Its been over 2 days and they're still on S. Shouldn't I get a message saying his phone is off or something if he had it uninstalled for over 2 days?

I don't believe Kik has that feature, all you will see is an S which indicates it has been sent but not delivered.
