I’m afraid of my son in law.?

When he drinks he gets hateful. Fortunately we live in different states, but what do I do when they come to visit? I want to see my daughter and grandson. Can I insist he doesn’t drink when he’s here? Is that even enforceable?

You can make whatever rules you want in your house. No alcohol, and no people who have been drinking, is certainly a rule that you can make and enforce. But you need to be careful because you can make that rule, and he can simply decide they are not bringing your grandson to visit anymore.

Extend an invitation to your daughter and grandson only. Tell your daughter why - you're afraid of your son-in-law. Your house, your rules.

don't go into his home if he drinks. insist on meeting at public places. restaurants. parks, malls. etc.
