Failing college and depressed?

So I'm failing my first year of college and don't know what to do.
On the one hand I think it's better if I just get a job, on the other hand finishing college might get me a better job. I also considered pausing for a year, but that would just mean I wasted a year of my life, coming back and being 1-2 years older than everyone else would be awkward.
Don't really know what to do in this situation and like that isn't bad enough I'm getting depressed by thinking about how I screwed up my future .
What should I do and how should I tell my parents?

It is not awkward to be "1 or 2 years older" (or even 10 or 20 years older) than other college students. You're still thinking like a fourth-grade kid.

A year off might be very useful to your ability to go back to college and focus and learn.

I'm sorry that you're having such a difficult time. How about considering attending community college, and if your parents give you permission, moving back home and commuting. Perhaps you're taking too many classes per semester, but attending community college, for instance, would allow one to take "just" one or two courses a semester while not having to live on-campus and have that stress as well.

How about talking with a school counselor, such as in "student services," about those issues, too, including the coursework and/or feelings of depression.

For anyone who is feeling suicidal, here is a toll-free 24/7 helpline:

1-800-273-TALK (8255).

This website should have some local counseling agencies:

https://findtreatment.samhsa.gov/ and can type one's zip code or state of residence into search.

Their toll-free 24/7 ** referral ** hotline:

1-800-662-HELP (4357).

It's not a waste of a year, or of money, if it helps you determine a different path. College isn't for everybody, and some people aren't ready for college right out of high school.

Consider joining the military. You will get a steady paycheck, and you should be able to save most of it. All your survival needs will be met: housing, food, work clothing, work transportation, medical care, dental care, vision care, and job training.

You will attain the best physical condition of your life, and when your enlistment is up (if you don't make a career of the military), the GI Bill will PAY FOR your education, if you still want to go to college. You will have access to a VA loan to buy a house, and you will have veteran hiring preference at many employers.
Good luck!

Well, you first need to determine if the problem is your intelligence or lack of discipline. You seem to not know why you failed, but expect someone to fix your problem. If it is intelligence, try an easier degree. There is a college education somewhere that is better than no education. If it is a lack of discipline, it is because you are pampered, and running home to your parents will only make it worse. The most common way to obtain discipline is through military service. Otherwise, you will likely be a bum. Might also point out that you have reached the grown up stage of your life, regardless of what you want. You know that point is reached when no one cares.

Just go on with college. Underload next semester and take an easy (no-brainer) job. Just try to get organized to make yourself a better person so that next year, you'll be ready to go full load again. Yes, finishing college would get you a better job when you graduate so go for that.

I started college at 27, don't be ashamed. I did a trade in college, electrical installations. I always liked fixing things , but up to that age was imposible to go to college because of family problems . I sugest learning a trade, you won't have a student loan , you will have a usefull skill that everyone needs , job opportunities. The key of success is don't let your dreams be in the way of your prosperity, don't get me wrong, it's great to have hobbies, i have plenty of hobbies, my dream hobbies, but whe it comes to making money and be productive you must think of other opportunities that you are missing out. "Look where everyone is heading and go the other way" . No one wants to have a trade anymore, which is good, more job opportunities for you.
