If I do a violet glaze over already dyed hair will my hair just get darker? I have previously dyed my hair dark brown almost black.?

I have naturally very dark brown hair that I dyed a darker shade of brown resulting in my hair looking jet black. I then put a violet glaze/gloss over the dyed hair to give it a red/purple hue in the sun but overall my hair still looked black. The glaze/gloss washed out 5 months later and my hair remains black looking like the original dye. If I put the violet glaze/gloss back onto my hair will my hair get darker? I like the black look but I do not want the glaze/gloss to lighten it up. Since I won't actually be redying my hair will actual dye but will a glaze instead my hair will get darker anyway?
