Those who have panic attacks may actually have "panic disorder," which is an anxiety disorder. Please, however, do *not* try to provide a self-diagnosis or self-treatment, and instead make an appointment with a board-certified psychiatrist (a medical doctor who may prescribe medication, if recommended). If you're under the age of 18, please ask your mom or dad to make the appointment to get an evaluation and treatment.

Please also schedule an appointment with a licensed mental health professional, namely a clinical psychologist (PhD or PsyD) or licensed-clinical social worker (LCSW). Either type of therapist may provide an "official" mental health diagnosis and may administer cognitive-behavioral therapy (cbt), for instance, which deals with how one's thoughts can affect one's behavior.

This website should have some local counseling agencies:

https://findtreatment.samhsa.gov/ and can type one's zip code or state of residence into search.

Their toll-free 24/7 ** referral ** hotline:

1-800-662-HELP (4357).

The Anxiety and Depression Association of America has more general info re: anxiety and/or depression (though, *not* in place of professional evaluation and diagnosis):

https://adaa.org/

NAMI ("national alliance on mental illness") has more general info and resources for those with mental health conditions and/or their families.

Here is their website:

We are so glad that you are reaching out for help. It really does sound like you have been going through a lot. Having constant panic attacks must make your daily life functions extremely challenging.

We would encourage you to get evaluated by a medical doctor or mental health professional, and get involved in counseling. Please consider reaching for support from someone who is close to you such as a parent, aunt, uncle, school counselor, teacher, coach, or minister. It may help you to talk to a counselor at a hotline. Know that there is help out there for you and you are not alone.
