Does the bible contradict itself? Have you ever thought maybe this is the problem?

Consider the context. Any author can appear to contradict himself if his words are taken out of context.
Consider the writer’s viewpoint. Eyewitnesses might describe an event accurately but not use the exact same wording or include the same details.
Take into account historical facts and customs.
Distinguish between the figurative and the literal uses of a word.
Recognize that an action may be attributed to someone—even if he did not personally carry it out. *
Use an accurate Bible translation.
Avoid trying to reconcile what the Bible says with mistaken religious ideas or dogma.

There are many contradictions in the bible. Try Reading, "Jesus, Interrupted: Revealing the Hidden Contradictions in the Bible (And Why We Don't Know About Them)."

No, it does not, and then again, only those in the faith, with the aid of the Holy Spirit can understand the true statements of the texts. Why d all the non-Christian come here and try to tell those in the faith what the texts are saying, when they can not truly understand them?

You need to keep the context of the entire Bible in view when reading it. Please consider that 40 different scribes wrote the 66 books of the Bible over a period of more than 1,500 years. Major themes and story lines remain consistant throughout the volume. Please consider 2 Timiothy 3:16 and 2 Peter 1:21. Human men wrote it; God authored it.

Yes it frequently contradicts itself; as you said, it was written by different people in different places and times. They all had slightly different perspectives and slightly different beliefs. Then translated/reinterpreted throughout centuries.

And that doesn't even take into account the books that didn't make the cut into the most popular version.

It was never meant to be an 'inerrant word of God', it was always meant to be the writings of people, writing what they believed about their God.

*NOTHING* "CONTRADICTS BUT WHAT THE "VICEGERENT" HAS "ADDED" (REVELATION 22:18-19) TO ADHERE TO *HIS* DOCTRINE AND SCREWED UP BY NOT COVERING HIS TRACKS!

GOD "REVEALS!"

The Bible isn't about history, but what it says is true. Forget the first couple, Adam and Eve. That's a myth, designed to teach something about the nature of God and the way God works with his people.

Read anything in the Bible and you can see pretty quickly what is historical and what is not.

The Bible talks about Enoch. So what? Enoch, whether he lived or not, is long turned to dust. It matters not a bit whether he actually lived. However, what about Enoch teaches us something? That's what's important.

The Bible can make a lot more sense when you have a good grasp of the whole general picture. Just reading it out of the blue isn't going to do much.

No, it doesn't contradict itself. Spiritual books are taken SPIRITUALLY. Not literally.

I am a Baha'i. a member of the Baha'i Faith. We believe there is only one God, that sent Buddha, Jesus, Moses, etc to humanity, now Baha’u’llah has come.

Since the bible is nothing more than a poor plagiarism and made up, it makes not difference what "translation" you use.

It does. Due to different writers, all have their own interpretation of what happened.
Peace.
