What does it mean: "He bid me to tell this to you, sir". What is the meaning of "bid" here?

Correct grammar would be "He bade me tell this to you, sir." Or "He bade me tell you this, sir."
It should be bade [past tense of bid]. He ordered me to tell you this, sir.
In archaic English, to 'do one's bidding' was to do as you were asked, so it basically means 'asked' in archaic English and is still sometimes used today, but more commonly found in stories depicting the language of the Middle Ages.
It means told. “He told me to tell you this, sir”.
"instructed" "asked" "directed"
It is Old English for asked.
It's a word a little stronger than "asked" and not as strong as "ordered" which means the same as those.
