Can somebody cope with trauma by completely blocking out a past experience like it never happened?
I’m writing a collection of short stories at present and am actively researching this to aid my narrative.
Is there a way that somebody could cope with a traumatic experience by completely blocking it out of their mind, almost to the point that it is almost like it didn’t even happen in the first place?

See a trauma counsellor or speak to an ER
Nurse they can help, when they
Have free time, please pay them and
Acknowledge them somewhere in your book
Thanks
P.s. I saw on discovery channel or Dr Karl, that meds were being trialed on mice
That may erase War Veternans PTSD, l think human trials were next, as
They discovered too much wipes out ones personality.
The right amount though once perfected could
assist many from Burnout related
To the helping professions.
Very best wishes

Source:) Study and good luck with the book ok.
That can happen, but it's not something you can do deliberately.
The brain can just do it - automatically. The person doesn't get a choice.
Repressed memories. Best is to talk to actual victims or read their stories on things they blocked out
Happens all the time but eventually, those mental blocks break down.
