24N (because the force is inversely proportional to the square of the distance)

That will depend on something that you have NOT told us.
Are they POINT particles?
Only if they are POINTS can you calculate an answer.

For POINTS ONLY the force is proportional to the inverse of the square of the distance.
ie F2/F1 = (x1/x2)^2
= (2/1)^2 = 4
F2 = 4F1
F2 = 4*6 = 24 N
