Weight does not always mean fat because it could be muscle and stuff. But I am slightly shorter than you and I weigh 20 pounds more and I get called skinny by everyone.

Without pictures, it is hard to tell. If you are a dude, then 140 lbs is pretty light for your height. I am 5 inches shorter than you and I weigh more than you. You may be skinny-fat. Once you get on a good beginner-friendly weight-training program, then you will gain a good 20-30 lbs of muscle in about a year or two. If you are a female, then I would say that your weight is fine. My sister is shorter than me and weighs nearly 150 lbs.

The ideal weight for a female at your size is listed between 140 and 171 lbs. Therefore you are at the very bottom of your listed ideal weight. Hence... You're skinny and at a healthy weight.

No you are not fat - I am 5'5 and 150lbs and slightly overweight and should be around 140lbs for my height but you are obviously taller

No. However, keep in mind that weight does not equal fat. Your weight is a combination of fat and muscle (along with all your organs and stuff of course), so weight isn't an indicator of fat. I am 5'5" and 130lbs and I am skinnier than my friend who's same height/age but 110lbs, because I have a more athletic body type. Muscle weighs more than fat, but fat takes up more space.

If you are under 10 years old, you are fat. If you are pre-teen to early teen, it's a perfectly healthy weight. If you are an older teen or adult, you are thin.
