Difference between Chromecast and Chromecast built in?

I bought a chromecast recently only to notice that my TVs actually have built-in chromecast.

I am just wondering if the built-in chromecast functions exactly the same as a regular chromecast, or does a regular chromecast have advantages that the built-in ones don't.

In other words, did I just waste my money for buying a regular chromecast since they are already built in in the TV. Thanks.

Being aware of the features of your stuff can save you money.

The Chromecast is meant for devices that don't have Chromecast built-in. There's no point in having one if the TV has it already, but you can always use it with any other older TV or display with an HDMI port.
